5 types of websites that make money

You want to create a website that will make you money? In theory, it’s pretty easy, but when it comes to real world it turns out that making successful website that makes money isn’t as easy is it sounds. But there are few types of websites that can really help you make a living from online income.

• Blogs – blogs do make money, as long as they’re useful to readers. The rule here is simple – if the blog is useful for someone, it gets traffic, and the more traffic the blog gets, the more money it can earn. Look at ProBlogger or SmashingMagazine, both blogs are definitely a huge success. The point is to find the topic you want to write about and reach the audience. With a little bit of effort, you can make money from any professionally-looking-and-managed blog.
• eShops – what a simple example, isn’t it? You can’t tell Amazon isn’t making huge money. Some people just target a huge audience, and some target small niche. If you’re thinking about online business and you have not much to write about or you’re not very creative, then perhaps creating another online shop for specific niche is a nice idea?
• Stock Markets – websites like Envato ThemeForest or GraphicRiver make big money only because they allow people to sell their own stuff, like stock themes or stock photography, making it possible for people to earn just by doing what they love. Something similar is Etsy, where people can buy and sell handmade stuff.
• Directories – an example here would be FeedMyApp (polish readers, please visit polish edition). This kind of websites does not make big moneys, but it can provide a steady passive income from ads. Look around, you can find directories of iPhone apps, Twitter users, directories of directories. With a little bit of promotion, such site becomes useful resource.
• Websites that offers services – 37signals, time management apps, todo apps, newsletter apps… Any website that offers useful service for reasonable price can make money. The problem in this niche is that probably every useful niche is already taken, and you have to be very creative to come up with something new and fresh. But it’s possible.
